Do I need experience to study at The Acting Place?
No. We welcome everyone, beginners and returning actors.

Can I audit your classes?
We do not allow audits, as we find them disruptive to our working students. The way to audit training at The Acting Place is to sign up for the Beginner's Acting Workshop. This is a one-day training in which you will have an opportunity to experience our teaching style, as well as a time for the instructor to assess your strengths and weaknesses and see how we can most effectively support you.

If Iíve already trained and worked some as an actor, do I need to take the Beginnerís Workshop to be evaluated?
If you are a seasoned actor, you may make an appointment for a private consultation, to help us evaluate your level and see where we can best serve you.

How many students are in your classes?
We prefer to keep our classes small (5 to 15 students) so that each student receives personalized attention.

How long do I have to study before I can act?
That's based on your individual talent, desire to work professionally, and the amount of time and energy you devote to your process.

Can I learn how to cold read so I will be prepared for auditions?
Cold reading is a specialized skill that is required if you want to book jobs and is a part of our total training. At The Acting Place you will learn not only how to get the job but how to keep the job.

Will my training also help me work in commercials?
Some people believe good acting skills are not necessary to perform in commercials. I disagree. The more trained you are the more confidence you'll have and the more tools you carry with you to your auditions. When you have reached a certain skill level, we will be happy to refer you to an excellent commercial training.

Can you help me learn more about the business of Show Business?
How to market yourself as an actor; counseling on pictures and resumes; information on how to build your resume; and how to avoid scams and improper casting couch set ups, are a part of all that you will learn at The Acting Place.
